TREES TALK London Fields, East London – June 2021
a performative event creating connections with trees and community
Co-created with Bettina Fung, this performance and temporary sculptural installation was staged in London Fields, Hackney. Inspired by the underground networks that connect trees for sharing resources, the artists staged a performance embodying the trees’ bonds of mutual care.
Participants became performative collaborators in this enactment by weaving coloured ropes and co-creating the sculptural art installation. In the post-performance discussion, participants described how the collective act of making had developed a sense of connection between one another and with the trees. Postcards produced by the artists, including a link to resources about how trees communicate, were offered as a gift to participants.
This work was presented as part of the London Festival of Architecture 2021.
