ANCESTRAL BEINGS Abney Cemetery Park, London – June 2026

a meditative event connecting woodland and commemoration

Co-led with Haydn S. of Abney Unearthed, this guided meditative walk passed slowly through the woodland and cemetery landscape of Abney Park, shaped by cycles of growth, decay and layered social and ecological histories.

Participants were encouraged to “listen through their feet”, and engage attentively with the site through walking, deep listening and close observation. Moving together among ancient trees and burial stones, we explored ecological habitats supported by mature woodland, alongside the histories of social resistance held within the cemetery. The event opened a space for participants to actively engage with how rare ecologies, commemoration and civic sharing coexist within this urban woodland.

The event was presented during the London Festival of Architecture 2026.
