DROUGHT September 2022

Developed during the extreme heat and prolonged drought of 2022, this participatory project took place in Hillside Park, London.

Moving through a landscape of drought-stressed vegetation, our group of participants observed the visible signs of ecological damage as extracts from J. G. Ballard’s The Drought were read aloud. The work concluded with a silent gathering around affected trees. The project invited collective attention to climate change as an immediate, local condition, foregrounding acts of witnessing and shared presence within a damaged landscape.
